Simulate human players in video games

Research Scientist

You'll do well in this role if:

  • You have research experience in reinforcement learning or ML at or above a PhD level, equivalent industry experience, or a strong portfolio of relevant work.

  • You are experienced in implementing and evaluating ML algorithms using Python, in a framework such as Tensorflow, JAX or PyTorch.

  • You have a solid theoretical understanding of reinforcement learning and you have practical experience implementing reinforcement learning or imitation learning algorithms.

  • You are excited about the opportunity for open-ended experimentation, you enjoy developing ideas collaboratively and you think you will be able to effectively interpret and communicate experimental results to help guide product strategy.

We’re looking for someone who is interested in leveraging recent AI research to help make powerful RL and IL technology a practical reality for video-game developers. This is a position that affords a unique opportunity to be on the cutting edge of ML research and to have a hand in developing a new generation of creative tools that allow people to directly collaborate with artificially intelligent systems. We are looking for someone for whom this sounds like a dream job.

THE SKILLS YOU'LL NEED

  • Developing high-level feature proposals by exploring how state-of-the-art ML algorithms can be applied in the context of game development workflows

  • Creating experimental implementations of ML techniques, and evaluating them in the context of video game AI.

  • Setting our research direction by identifying and prioritizing promising new results from the academic literature.

  • Designing and comparing ML network architectures that allow robust learning of goal-directed behavior in low-data settings.

  • Helping productize novel ML features, working closely with a team of engineers.

  • Working directly with game developers, identifying the unique challenges they face in deploying ML solutions and finding creative ways to address them.

Your Responsibilities could include:

As a research scientist, you will be responsible for developing and applying state-of-the-art RL and IL techniques to simulate human players in video games. Working closely with ML engineers, software engineers and UX designers, you will help guide design and implementation of our next-generation agent-based AI features.

THE PROBLEMS YOU'LL SOLVE

We offer a unique opportunity for individual growth and leadership. You’ll be joining an early stage company, which means that you’ll learn first hand about how to do zero to one product development. You’ll make fundamental technical decisions, shape the company culture, and grow as rapidly as the company itself.

Growth

No matter where you work, we believe in the importance of working sustainably. We provide all employees with flexible vacation benefits so that you take time off when you need it, and encourage every employee to define a work schedule that keeps nights and weekends free for all of the other things you care about in life.

Balance

We provide every employee with the ability to work where and when they feel most productive. You can come into our San Francisco office whenever you want the benefits of in person collaboration, work from home when you want maximum focus, or work remotely when needed.

Location

Agentic offers competitive salaries as well as full medical, dental, vision, and 401k plans. As an early employee, you will be a part of an equity plan that gives you a direct share in the company’s success.
